01Inground & above-ground

Vinyl liner
replacement.

A liner is the skin of the pool. When it fades, wrinkles, tears or starts pulling out of the track, the whole pool looks tired and starts losing water. Watermark Pools replaces, installs and repairs vinyl liners on inground and above-ground pools across the Memphis area.

Six signs it's
time for a new one.

One of these on its own might mean a repair. Two or three together usually means the liner has done its job. Send us a photo and we'll tell you which side of that line you're on.

  • Sign 01

    Faded & chalky

Sun and chlorine bleach the pattern out. The color goes flat and the surface can feel chalky to the touch.

  • Sign 02

    Wrinkles that stay

Wrinkles that don't relax after the water is balanced and the pool is full usually mean the vinyl has stretched.

  • Sign 03

    Out of the track

When the bead pops out of the coping track, the liner is shrinking or brittle, and it won't stay in on its own.

  • Sign 04

    Stiff & brittle

Old vinyl loses its flexibility. It cracks around the steps, corners and fittings, where it moves the most.

  • Sign 05

    Tears & pinholes

A single small tear can often be patched. A liner full of them is telling you something.

  • Sign 06

    Losing water

If the level keeps dropping faster than evaporation, the liner or a fitting may be leaking. See leak detection.

BThe job, start to finish

How a liner
goes in.

The vinyl is the part you see. The work that makes it last is everything that happens before it goes in.

  1. Look & measure

We look at the pool, the walls, the floor and the track, and take the measurements a new liner is built to.

  2. Drain & tear out

The pool is drained, the old liner is cut out and pulled, and the shell underneath is out in the open.

  3. Prep the floor, walls & track

The floor gets smoothed and repaired, walls get checked, and the track is made ready so the new bead seats all the way around.

  4. Set the liner

The new liner is hung in the track and pulled into place so corners, steps and seams sit where they belong.

  5. Fill & cut in

The pool fills, and the skimmer, returns, lights and drains are cut in and sealed through the new vinyl.

  6. Back to swimming

Equipment back online, water balanced, and the pool is ready to use.

CTwo kinds of pool

Inground or
above-ground.

Same idea, different build. We handle liner work on both, which a lot of pool companies won't say.

Inground liners

Built to the exact shape and depth of your pool: rectangles, kidneys, freeforms, steps and deep ends. Replacing an inground liner is also the moment to fix what's underneath it, so floor and wall repairs happen while the pool is empty.

Above-ground liners

Round and oval above-ground pools get re-lined too. If the wall, frame and track are sound, a new liner and a properly prepared floor can make an older pool look new. More on above-ground service.

DRepair or replace

Not every liner
needs replacing.

A small tear in a liner that's otherwise in good shape can often be repaired. We'd rather tell you that than sell you a liner you don't need yet.

FLiner questions

Liner FAQ.

Does the pool have to be drained?

For a full replacement, yes. The old liner comes out and the new one is set in an empty pool. Many small repairs can be done without draining.

How long does a liner replacement take?

It depends on the size and shape of the pool, what we find under the old liner, and how long the pool takes to fill. We'll give you a timeline for your pool once we've seen it.

Can you repair a liner instead?

Often, if the liner is otherwise in good condition. Text a photo of the damage and we'll tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense.

Do you do above-ground liners?

Yes. Above-ground vinyl liner installation is one of our listed services, along with above-ground repair and installation.
